About Nadia

Nadia spent her twenties working the floor and then the back office of a men's accessories shop, which is where she learned that the interesting report is not the one about what sold. It is the one about what came back, and why.

She writes about the gap between a gift that photographs well on the night and a gift that is still in rotation in June — which formats have somewhere to live, which ones need a size and therefore a receipt, and which category is quietly a solved problem you can stop overthinking.

Standing positions: a letter beats a bundle, engraving belongs on the inside, and nobody has ever been thrilled by a mug with a face printed on it.

How Nadia works

  • Occasion before object

Valentine's, a birthday and December have different rules about privacy, price and audience. Start with the date and the shortlist collapses to about six items.

  • Sentimental needs an address

Anything personal has to fit on a wall, a wrist or a keyring. We say where each format lives before we say what it costs.

  • Specs quoted, never claimed

When a guide cites a capacity, a material or a size, it is what the manufacturer publishes — attributed as such. We do not report measurements we did not take.
